Barbara Kopple

Barbara Kopple is a two-time Academy Award-winning and ten-time Emmy-nominated filmmaker. She received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 44th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards in 2023. Throughout her career, she has directed and produced upwards of fifty films including, Harlan County, USA, American Dream, Wild Man Blues, Woodstock: Now and Then, Conversations with Gregory Peck, Shut Up and Sing, and Miss Sharon Jones. Her most recent documentary, Gumbo Coalition, follows civil rights leaders Marc Morial and Janet Murguía during a pivotal time in American history.
